CONFRONT THE DARK PARTS OF YOURSELF.
WORK TO BANISH THEM WITH ILLUMINATION AND FORGIVENESS.
Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing.
– August Wilson –
In everything we do, we do it from our heart. There are no such things as rules in our approach. Instead, love, integrity and respect is what grounds our work. Extending out to every single person who joins us on this very special path of re-discovering who we truly are. No matter your background, age, gender, beliefs, condition or intention, there is no hierarchy in our relationships. Everyone is safe, supported and loved in our space.

Led by Maestro Gumercindo Galindo, our retreat’s core ceremonial work occurs across four intensive Ayahuasca ceremonies. The ceremonies take place at twilight in our warm and comfortable ceremony space. Gumercindo comes from an ancient and powerful lineage of Amazonian Shamanism called Palero Curanderismo. This makes for medicine which is robust, fierce and, at times, unrelenting. Yet balanced by Gumercindo’s joyful energy. Music plays an integral part of our retreat and is what makes Gume a true Maestro in every way. His potent Icaros are interspersed with beautiful medicine songs accompanied by guitar and drums. At the closing of ceremony, our family of facilitators and musicians help guide guests back from their Ayahuasca journey through soft, soulful music. Creating an effective container for healing and an experience simply like no other.
San Pedro Ceremony
Our guests healing work begins with a single San Pedro ceremony at the opening of the retreat. San Pedro (also named Huachuma) is a cactus that has been used as a sacred plant medicine for at least 3,000 years here in its spiritual home in the Andes of Peru. Expertly guided by our Huachamero Bernhard Karshagen, each San Pedro ceremony is a reunion with ourselves, Mother Nature and the Divine. It is a medicinal mirror that can help us see where we hold onto self-limiting beliefs and patterns in our lives. A benevolent plant spirit that gently guides us toward releasing that which no longer serves us.
Our San Pedro ceremony is a powerful initiation into the retreat. One that sets the tone for the days to come. Assisting you to connect with your heart and find clarity around your intentions leading into the Ayahuasca ceremonies.
Our mountain lodge, ‘Petra’, sets the absolutely perfect container for our healing work to unfold. Tucked away beneath one of the mighty Apus of Sacred Valley, ‘Petra’ – as the name suggests – is energetically solid and supportive like a rock. The lodge consists of 5 modern chalet homes embraced by sprawling wild, beautiful gardens. Complete with vistas of the surrounding mountain areas that are undeniably breathtaking. Each home is equipped with comfy beds, fireplace, hot showers, tea and water facilities and open living spaces to relax by fire.
‘Petra’ is our home and we love it. We feel so blessed to be supported by such beauty and comfort during the challenges of an intensive plant medicine retreat like this. And, we know our guests feel it too.
The plant medicine ceremonies can take a toll on our bodies. That’s why we provide deep relaxation massage to our guests throughout the duration of the retreat to soften some of those aches and pains.
We only work with trusted massage therapists who understand plant medicine work and who let their experience guide their touch.
Plant baths play a supportive role within our guest’s healing process. The plant medicine ceremonies activate and bring to the surface energies and emotions that have been collected across a lifetime and stored within our body. These are energies and emotions that have left an impression on our hearts which at times manifest in our limiting behaviours, thoughts, and beliefs.
Plant baths help us to cleanse and strengthen the external body. Assisting us to clear resistances which we are struggling to release and let go of.
We find yoga to be a wonderful compliment to the ceremonial work. Our yoga instructors tailor each class based on the energy of the group on each particular day. The sessions are soft, restorative and meditative on days when a gentle practice is necessary. Becoming more physical and energetic at times when energies amongst the group call for a more vigorous practice.
No matter what type of session, our yoga classes are the perfect way to clear the mind, invoke a state of focus and revitalise your mind, body, and spirit.

Music & Song
At Spirit Plant Journeys, music is an extremely important aspect of the retreat experience. Our Maestro and facilitators are all talented musicians who understand the beauty and magic of music as a medicine in its own right.
From the beginning right through to the closing, our Ayahuasca Ceremonies involve the use of powerful medicine songs (or icaros). Along with healing songs accompanied by guitar and drums. This is music that our guests tell us stay with them long after the retreat is done, playing in their hearts throughout their post-integration process. We would not be who we are without music and song. It is a part of us. And, just another one of those things that makes our retreat a little different from the rest.
Throughout the course of the retreat we participate in sharing circles. These sharing circles function to help us build trust in one another and the medicine, to learn from each other, and to open ourselves up to vulnerability. Sharing throughout such a powerful spiritual experiences also helps us to forge strong connections, trust, and cohesion amongst the group. All of the trust and support inspired in us through these sharing circles help us to go deeper into the plant medicine work.
There is ample opportunity to speak with facilitators and the shamans as we are constantly present for the groups. Our facilitators translate live and are highly proficient in Spanish.
Throughout our 10-days together, we provide guided tours of magical Sacred Valley including the Andean towns and ruins of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Along with the option to visit Machu Picchu at the end of the retreat.
Visiting the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu, is the perfect way to end your time in Sacred Valley. We travel on the beautiful Vistadome train service and stay in a comfortable luxurious hotel in Aguas Calientes. It’s a powerful experience to connect with this mystical site and the staggeringly beautiful surrounding Andean mountain ranges after such a transformative ten days. Finishing your time with us in a truly magical experience.
